Conflict mineral policy
Background knowledge
Conflict minerals "refers to metallic minerals such as tin, tungsten, tantalum and gold from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and surrounding countries. These metals are also collectively known as 3TG metals. Trade in 3TG metals contributes to armed conflict and human rights abuses in the Democratic Republic of Congo and neighboring countries. Disclosure of the use of 3TG metals minerals and transparency in the supply chain are required under Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and SEC regulations. The aim of this initiative is to end armed conflict and uphold international law.
